Development of Hyabest® (S) LF-P
What is rewarding about research
Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in moisture retention in the skin and smooth knee joint movement, but with age, the amount of Hyaluronic acid in the body declines. From a desire to contribute to customer health and beauty through replenishing Hyaluronic acid by eating it, Kewpie was the first in the world to move quickly into research into edible Hyaluronic acid. We obtained all sorts of data, particularly relating to effectiveness for moisture retention in the skin, which showed that ingesting Hyaluronic acid could impart moisture to the skin from inside the body. The drive for research is that many customers may be supported to live healthier lives by ingesting Hyaluronic acid.
Development challenges
Rather than just confirming the moisture retention effect in the skin by eating Hyaluronic acid, to answer customers questions, we sought to clarify the mechanism by ingesting Hyaluronic acid retains moisture in the skin. Through each research project we looked at how it is absorbed and what happens after it is absorbed, and in recent years, little by little, the absorption mechanism has been revealed. In the future we will be announcing to Japan and the World about the effects on the skin by eating Hyaluronic acid has been scientifically confirmed.
Where to from here
Other than moisture retention in the skin, Hyaluronic acid has many other inherent possibilities. From recent research it is becoming apparent that ingesting Hyaluronic acid is effective against skin damage from ultraviolet radiation. Ultraviolet radiation is the single biggest factor in wrinkles and bringing on other signs of ageing. Research and development going forward will be looking not only at moisture retention, but also at the efficacy of Hyaluronic acid as an anti-aging substance.
