TNFD Initiatives
The operations of the Kewpie Group are highly dependent on the bounty of nature, the source of our ingredients. Therefore, we believe that it is important to understand our impacts on the natural environment while at the same time taking an integrated approach to address closely related issues such as biodiversity, water resources, and climate change.
The Kewpie Group endorsed the recommendations of the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD)*1 in April 2024, and was a member of the TNFD Forum.*2
While working to address issues, we have also launched a project to discover new opportunities and embed them into our corporate strategies.
Applying the LEAP approach*3 of the TNFD framework, we will analyze the raw materials needed by the Kewpie Group as well as direct operations (production sites).
*1This task force was created as a framework after the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) to assess risks and opportunities relating to natural capital and biodiversity. To encourage information disclosure by financial institutions and companies, it promotes the creation of information disclosure frameworks pertaining to nature-related risks.
*2An international platform where members of diverse organizations create frameworks for risk management and disclosures relating to natural capital.
*3An integrated assessment process for companies to manage nature-related risks and opportunities, with a focus on local areas they operate and biomes. The acronym LEAP refers to four phases of the approach: Locate, Evaluate, Assess, and Prepare.
Procurement that Considers Biodiversity
The "Kewpie Group Fundamental Policy for Sustainable Procurement" was formulated in FY2018 and promotes procurement that respects the environment and human rights.
Paper
The Kewpie Group will give consideration to environmental issues and social issues such as human rights when procuring paper.
In December 2023, we established the Kewpie Group Paper Procurement Guidelines. We will further promote initiatives by creating standards and targets in procurement.

Kewpie Group Environmental Conservation Activities
Based on our Approach to Conservation of Biodiversity, the Kewpie Group has been engaging in environmental conservation activities for many years, including tree-planting in the Kewpie Forest in Fuji Hokuroku in Yamanashi Prefecture, and activities to conserve the Kiritappu Wetland.
Going forward, we will work to gain a greater understanding of how the Group's business activities affect the natural environment. We will review and improve our activities accordingly so that we can pass on a sustainable society to the next generation.
SHIBUYA Urban Farming Project
In June 2024, Kewpie, together with the Shibuya Future Design Incorporated Association, established the “SHIBUYA Urban Farming Project” to promote urban greening and biodiversity while realizing community building and a new food culture unique to Shibuya.
The consortium is centered on urban farming, and will promote nature positivity with participating companies while leveraging the strengths of the Kewpie Group.
